Loren Rude, OD was born and raised in Southern California. He attended University of California Irvine where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Illinois, Chicago (ICO).
While at ICO, Dr. Rude worked with prominent surgeons from the University of Illinois, Chicago in clinical rotations at West Side Veterans Affairs Medical Center. His emphasis there was on ocular disease and comanagement of surgical cases.
Passionate about sharing is knowledge and clinical experience with the optometric community, Dr. Rude served as Refractive Surgery Clinical Adjunct Professor at Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO). While at SCCO his emphasis was in co-management of laser vision correction (LASIK) with extensive research and lectures to his credit in the field of refractive surgery.
In addition to overseeing the daily refractive operations of Coastal Vision, Dr. Rude is committed to helping maintain a network of affiliated optometrists in the community who provide pre-operative and postoperative care to patients undergoing laser vision correction.
Dr. Rude is a member of American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association and International Society of Refractive Surgery. He has also volunteered abroad on a medical mission trip to El Rosario, Mexico with Flying Samaritans where he helped organize and deliver ophthalmic, medical, and dental services to the community.
When not in clinic, Dr. Rude enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle. His hobbies include surfing, water skiing, snow skiing, running, soccer and cooking.
